Gasparilla Island
These pictures were taken in Gasparilla Island, near Boca Grand Pass. The tatered building is part of the Whidden Marina, founded in 1926. I landed my water filled boat at this marina last year with a 28 inch gash in the hull. It was a real life-saver for us as we had no intention of swiming with the sharks at Boca Pass. This past week I rode my bike on the West side of the Island for about 3 miles on the beach and about 17 additional miles on the Island.

A Look at the 2011 Calendar
Here is a page from my 2011 calendar; it is a little busy, but I think the kids will love it! All the animals on each page of the calendar are pictures taken when we all went to the Minnesota Zoo.

Pickle Guys at Work
The new Pickle Booth located at the Minnesota State Fair grounds, St Paul, Minnesota. As you can see it is a work in progress as the fair opening date is fast approaching, August 26, 2010. The front of the building is the lower photo and 'Pickle Guys' are adding a temporary (!) structure in the back, where the real job of processing pickles gets done.

The Turtle
Kyla and Megan on the bronze turtle at the Minnesota Zoo. Unbeknowen to them is that the turtle was a copy made in honor of the turtle from the Como Zoo in St Paul. The turtle was introduced to the Como Zoo many years ago, it was there in the 1960's, and it died at the turn of the centruy. And yes, that live turtle would let kids sit on it and they would have there pictures taken!

The Big Burn
As you may know, brothers, Pat, Tom and I ventured down the mighty Mississippi River in early July. We started at Lock and Dam #1 in St Paul and ended our trip and Lock and Dam #25 in Alton, Illinois, almost 700 miles. The travelers were on Tom's boat, a 18 foot Lund Tyee with 150 horses so we could fly. We took 3 bikes with us so we could 'get' around the small towns along the river. Our only mishap happened on the return trip when Tom's van burned. We saved the boat and trailer but lost a camera which contained 90% of the pictures of the trip. We were on the water for 8 days.
